Say NO to internet censorship @2008-10-17 23:41:30 It will make the internet even slower that it would be with the filtering on, and Australian internet is slow enough. Our broadband is not even counted as broadband in other parts of the world. This is just like that time the howard government spent millions of dollars on the firewall/parental control system for homes that a 14 year old broke through in 15 minutes. Just a waste of time and money...Mostly money though. I dont really care if they waste their time. Keeping the feds busy stops them from thinking up even more idiotic schemes to make it look like they are doing something... .....I just realized i dont really like the Ausy government. hmm... SAY NO TO INTERNET CENSORSHIP!!!! |

LOL telnet @2008-10-17 20:17:35 everyones favourite legacy protocol telnet has a few funny things on there. heres a list from telnet.org More specificaly one really cool ascii starwars movie: If you dont know HOW to do this (it doesnt seem to work with VISTA. go to your command prompt. you can do this by typing "cmd" in the "run" window (in the start menu). and type: I have this weird fascination with ascii art. I find it both ingenuous and amusing. |

ACDC and Rod Stewert @2008-10-06 15:19:15 So for my holidays I went back to Wangaratta and chilled. Enjoying not having to make my own food for a few days. I worked on the friday night in Corowa for the Australian ACDC tribute band ';Thunderstruck';. They were damned awesome. ![]() ![]() On the saturday I worked for a band which did a Rod Stewert tribute, the same guys also do Cold Chisel... I would have rather they did that but the show was still good. Except that it was populated by 40+ year olds. The Venue however was awesome, It had war memorabilia everywhere and was situated right next to a large lake. There was a case with some Samurai Swords (Katana) that were stolen during the Korean War. ![]() ![]() ![]() There was even a case with a stolen Nazi Officers uniform and some old anti-nazi comics from a newspaper.. I lol';d because they were very insulting and im surprised they are still on display.

LAN';;Asploded my brain @2008-09-22 12:21:15 When you get 3 generation of lan admins come to your LAN you know there';;;s gonna be some expectations. Unfortunately LAN';;asplode didn';;t meet them. But as far as LAN';;;s go, it went as expected and while there might not be any more carpools from Wangaratta going to it, Mussels and Myself will certainly go again. Trent, Mussels, Luke and Myself were among the highest sharers at the LAN, and probably played the most games too.. An unfortunate glitch with DC++ made it difficult for Luke and Myself to game while in it which drastically lessened our gaming time, even though I only downloaded 300gb or so, since most of the people at the LAN were on 100mb/s (or atleast the people I was trying to leech from were) it took longer than it should have. Im not going to the one this weekend since im now out of money having just bought a DTS sound card (now i need some logitech z5500';;;s). But I will be making sure I have all the games installed and ready to go for the next LAN. I SHOULD have my new graphics card then... so I can play Supreme Commander with more than 11 fps. LOL (FAIL :( ) I just need to get 1 more 750gb hdd and ill be up the top of the sharing list. LANASPLODE website |

php news revision 5 @2008-08-31 00:57:46 As I get time... and with all the things that has been going on I havent had much lately.. I further my learning with different things. Usually this is either web development or computer hardware. While trudging through the obscenely disgusting code of my minor projects website I stumbled across one thing which was actually quite cool. A feature SQL has which made adding in the buttons to view all of the old news posts way WAY easier to code than I originally thought. SQL rocks. Revision 5 is here.. only 1 more feature to add before I consider this a fully featured news manager. |

The Ultimate Uni Bumb Computer @2008-08-31 00:47:27 A personal project. I decided to make a HTPC out of my old PC after i bought my new one. since the motherboard was a microATX formfactor board with onboard graphics. After some tweaking and replacing the high-end hardware with some spare stuff i had lying around I managed to create something very cool. Its current specs are as follows.
Its almost inaudible. the system is under-volted somewhat to increase its lifespan and decrease its power consumption and heat output. Its completely stable and uses only 55 watts of power. Less than your average light bulb. Soon enough this will get setup as a webserver/smoothwall(network shaper/manager) and Ill be making a second HTPC only this time Ill be aiming to make a passively cooled HTPC gaming rig. the only limitations being the built in 350watt PSU and the fact that itll be quite hard to get heatsinks into the case.. pic1 pic2 pic3 |

NO, IE didnt handle it properly. @2008-07-29 09:56:32 Firstly; Cheers! to Craig for showing me this website. Chances are if you give a bit of a damn about learning web development you would have wondered about why Internet Explorer doesn't always render your website properly. And that other browsers don't all render it the same. If you all think back to 'Web Development' for a second. W3C standards attempt to fix this problem, But since IE doesn't give a shit about W3C, it just does what it likes. And since it holds 80% of the market, us poor developers have to code around it (BOO!). This article on the website www.howtocreate.co.uk was written by a very cynical and highly amusing web developer who has written a very good article explaining these render problems with different browsers and how you can work around them (in the best possible way). Worth Reading. |

Irony in internet piracy @2008-07-27 19:20:52 Youtube.com a streaming video site feature poor quality flash video files. Needles to say sites such as VEOH.com are certainly much better than youtube. That aside however, these sites are a haven for copyright infringement and video's are constantly being taken down by their copyright owners. now onto the irony. Anime: the name for Japanese brand cartoons that generally have a target audience over 15 years of age is quite popular in western society. However not enough so that it gets properly marketed in America and Australia. Thus there are many Japanese speaking westerners whom translate and subtitle anime then release it for free download on the internet. Once these anime series are licensed for distribution in the US this is meant to stop. however it doesn't. Dattebayo LLC is a fansub group that releases NARUTO and BLEACH, two very popular anime series currently owned by Funimation and released in Australia by Madman. Thus they release it illegaly. According to MIT universities youtomb project Dattebayo is the 5th most active youtube censor. ROFL. Dattebayo doesn't want their illegal copyright infringing products pirated. IRONY. I love it. |
