RAID Stripping 24 SSD's @2009-03-14 15:09:32 Its really quite disappointing that even the latest ssd's which are capable of 220mb/s still haven't reached the max of the SATA 3.0Gb/s interface(375mb/s). and Normal magnetic hdd's on average only reach about 75mb/s. (Samsung Spinpoint f1 do 100mb/s, which is among the best you can get). Even then you need a hefty CPU to actually compute so much data rushing too it all at once. and RAM to store it all and keep up with the load times... In the link bellow some guys were able to get an impressive 2gig/second on a 24xSSD raid configuration. Mind you this was after a lot of stuffing around and tweaking. Its been enough to convince me to try out RAID Stripping on my 2x 1tb Samsungs when they get here next week... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96dWOEa4Djs |

THE GAME: You Just Lost It @2009-03-10 17:38:20 Some of you might already know of THE GAME. Many of you who do probably think of it as a retarded and pointless 4chan meme. Many of you are probably right. HOWEVER There is also a real and valid NON-4chan HIstory behind it. And as such a website all about it.. that being THE GAME. www.losethegame.com/origins.htm Thanks to SQUID for bringing this to my attention. |

Australian Television @2009-02-06 13:39:02 So the infamous Yahtzee from ZERO PUNCTUATION (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation) is one of the hosts of a new Australian Gaming television show. Along with Matt Burgess another internet big-name and.... his friend? It strikes me as amusing the Yathzee is really such a hard ass about games and its not an act. The show itself- GAME DAMAGE -has been picked up by an overseas television network so we wont actually be seeing it... The Pilot is available ot watch (HERE on GAYTUBE.com). |

IM kinda rich these days @2009-01-07 20:07:58 SO ive been working with various bands in various towns.. More than I'd care to mention here. As a result im kinda rolling in the money. The bad thing about that is that I have been spending a lot of money on various whims...mostly computer games or tech that I want... Ive just about convinced myself that I want to spend $1200 on a massive 42" LCD television / computer monitor. The last thing I need to buy is a new graphics card for my computer... |

Folk, Rhythm and Life the Festival of Hippies @2009-01-02 10:17:37 Back in week 3of November I had the privilege to work at The FRL festival out at Billyana, Eldorado (30minutes from Wangaratta). The place is a hole with no mobile phone reception bu the hippies out there know how to throw a party. ![]() The Mural painted to the right of main stage by one of the talented hippies. I worked for 3 day, given only enough time to sleep and worked with some awesome bands. Many of which you can see if you take a trip down to melbourne. No Cat Empire or John Butler Trio this year :( But it was still kick ass.
The festival was made in an old mining area and designed with an Environmentally friendly approach.. Which meant no power, no phones and we lived in tents made of and containing secondhand goods... I didnt even get to eat any meat while I was there. There were 3 stages playing in the area and over 20 stalls containing many interesting things to buy, including things that cause you to see things that arent really there.....if you know what i mean... Some of the more memorable Bands that played over the 30 that I worked with and the 100 that Attended (i didnt have time to see them all) were:

Storing an Image IN a database @2008-12-12 19:30:56 I got into a discussion with Andy and Craig who had a web dev assignment which involved having user';s'; access data on a website. But only certain users can access certain data on the site. .htaccess can solve this problem. But the server was a Microsoft one... thus .htaccess does not exist. There is an equivalent for the Microsoft brand of webserver but it was turned off. http://hockinson.com/index.php?s=37 This link is to a blog which talks about the pro';s and con';s of storing images IN a database. |

Code injection attacks: part 2 @2008-12-12 17:23:21 http://www.denhamcoote.com/php-howto-sanitize-database-inputs http://shiflett.org/blog/2006/jan/addslashes-versus-mysql-real-escape-string After the last code injection post I made i wrote a number of code injection protection function/methods that I use in various websites and programs. The functions found on the first link are essentially the same as the ones I wrote. Though I find the sanitize function redundant as im quite happy to just use ';mysql_real_escape_string($input)'; the second link explains why its a good idea to sometimes make your own functions with extra protection aside from whats already included in the code library of your given language. I will warn that the second link contains some rather complex descriptions. |

To Do List @2008-12-09 15:47:31 I need to get around to fixing the function that replaces characters with the websafe code... its got a gliotch in it. I need to double the cookie lifetime. Fix that retarted CSS property that has created a 600pixel margin on the right hand side of this page. |

Its Been a While since I posted last..Ive been busy @2008-12-09 15:45:44 Yeah so Ive been really busy for the last few months and haven';;t had time to post or even finish a few of the features I wanted to add to this website. Whatever. MY RESULTS!!
Minor Project: B. I really messed up my oral presentation. Due to many reasons but mostly because I didnt prepare for it. So I must have done really good on everything else. Funny. I thought I was lazy. THAT SAID! the project I was working on was far more difficult than anything else worked on by the other minor project students. And there is more info on that above. |
